Tool I am reviewing: http://drop.io

How many times do you find yourself in a situation where you have to share files with a client, prospect or colleague. Most of the time email is used, however usually there is a disconnect with email.

A few of the problems can be:

• Files sizes being too large to email as an attachment
• The clutter of email that can become a barrier to recipients receiving your important messages
• Messages getting lost due to spam filters
• and many more

I find myself in this situation many times where I have a small project with many people that need to access the files. Drop.io comes to the rescue as a free tool to allow you to create a link location to your files (i.e. drop.io/yoururl) and other tools such as:

• Up to 100 mb of storage space per drop.io account (note: you can either pay to upgrade your file size or setup a separate free drop.io account)
• You can setup automatic notifications such as SMS (text message), email and other main stream communication tools when files are uploaded, edited, etc. You can edit the notifications in just about every way you can possibly think of.
• Password protection for uploading files
• Chat feature allowing you to collaborate with others accessing the page
• And other great tools for collaboration.

There are also some other great perks such as embedding and download options that make it a great tool for storing files (audio, video, etc.) that you can use for your website or blog.

Like I said, I am a huge of using this to keep your life and business organized, especially for small projects that don’t need full fledged project management tools.
