Increase Sales in 2010 by Asking Clients

Thinking of some different ways to increase sales in 2010? If you are like most, this is probably a question on your mind. At least it is on mine. This time of year is when you look back at last year and decide what worked and what didn’t as well as some new ways to improve sales in the next year. I challenge you this year to start asking your current clients what they would like to see from you in 2010. I spent December constantly emailing and calling current clients to find out what they would like to see from the services that I provide – for example, I started a new program, www.centralpaexperts.com, that has been a success out of the gate when it comes to traffic, but I needed a break through idea that would assure consistent and increasing traffic as well as sales so I could continue to fund the program. There were probably almost a million ideas that came into my head when thinking of ways to drive visitors back to the website, but I decided to ask my clients, the “experts”, about some different ways that we could drive more visitors to the site on a consistent basis. More specifically, I was trying to fill a spot on the homepage with some sort of program that would interest visitors and be valuable for the experts on the site.
In the process of asking I learned about the pro’s and con’s of each one – for instance, one of my ideas was to have a contest on the homepage where visitors could answer a question, get people to vote for their answer, and win a prize for receiving the most votes. Although this generated over 2,000 new website visitors within one week, it didn’t really provide additional value, or in this case leads, to the experts. So in the midst of thinking, “what a great ideas”, was given feedback and directed to something even better by just asking my clients for feedback. Now we have implemented an online radio show for the homepage that drives even more visitors to the website as well as more direct leads for experts on the website.
So start thinking of ways to ask your clients for feedback and suggestions. The Constant Contact Survey feature is a great tool to use that will give you instant feedback from your clients. When you are asking for their feedback, be sure to give them a place to explain their answers. This will give you more to work off of versus just asking multiple choice questions.
Another thing to keep in mind when going through the survey process is to follow up with the clients that are giving you the feedback. Be sure to send them a thank you. One easy way to do this is through cardsczar.com. Cardczar.com allows you to send out a post card right from the website to your client for a small fee. It is definitely worth it at the end of the day.
So with this said, get out there and get some feedback before determining what you are going to do in 2010.
